How did the Phoenicians spread information and their culture throughout the Mediterranean?

History

The Phoenicians spread their culture throughout the Mediterranean first by developing skilled sailing practices and devoting energy to building ships fit to sail the Mediterranean. Additionally, the extent of the spread was due to their intense focus on trade. Phoenicians would regularly set up trade colonies as far west as present-day Spain. These colonies would exist as sort of "Little Phoenicias" filled with their culture.
