Mark Twain named it the Gilded Age. The Gilded Age played an important role in the development of the American society. This time period was corrupt. Corruption spread through the city,state,and national governments. The Gilded Age transformed the economy,technology,government,and social customs.

Immigration in the U.S. has caused families who pay taxes( everybody) to pay for others who did not come in legally. Immigrants can come across the border illegally and apply for social security in which they get our U.S. tax money and get money for any immediate family they have. Hence, American citizens are paying for illegal immigrants who do not pay taxes.
