The technicians ask the patients if they have any steel inside their body because the steel when subjected to a magnetic field they will become a magnet. since MRI produces a very large amount of magnetic field during its operation, then the still will be a magnet and it might hurt you

During MRI scan strong magnetic fields are used. The presence of any metallic object during the scan would magnetize itself and will be pulled towards the magnet with a force that is harmful to the human skin.

Further Explanation:

<u>A process that brings about detailed images of the tissues and organs of the body without using X-rays is called </u><u>magnetic resonance imaging</u> or MRI. Instead of X-rays, it uses a magnetic field in order to produce radio waves for creating high-quality images. <u>These clear images can be used in the determination of an injury in the internal parts of the body. </u>

<u> </u>

<u>The procedure of the scan is conducted through an MRI machine that is donut-shaped</u>. The patient lies facing upwards and moves into the machine from one end. As the machine is switched on, the magnetic field is generated which aligns the protons from the human body. The radio waves thus formed causes the protons to create electric signals that are received by the machine in order to form a clear image of the internal organs or tissues.

<u>The high-power magnets inside the MRI machine do most of its work</u>. Due to high magnetic fields, it is important to be cautious inside the scan room. Before undergoing an MRI, the technician might ask a person whether he/she has steel or metal inserted inside the body. <u>This is because the strong magnetic fields might magnetize the metallic object.</u> A material susceptible to magnetization can easily accept a magnetic field. Therefore, while entering a scan room, anything which might get magnetized must be removed. <u>The magnet may pull the metallic object towards itself with such a force that the metal may break open the weak surfaces in order to make its way towards the magnet</u>. In a case where the metallic object is present inside the human body, the pulling of the object in the presence of a magnetic field might rip off the skin and result in a wound. <u>Therefore, it is generally asked beforehand to a person about any metallic insertion in the body so as to avoid such circumstances. </u>

Use the drop-down menus to put the events of the light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis in the correct order.
mash [69]

Events of the light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis starts with the absorption of sunlight and ends with ATP production.

<h3>Events of  light-dependent reaction</h3>
  • In the first step energy is absorbed from the sun and then water is broken down.
  • Hydrogen ions of the water molecules are transported across the thylakoid membrane.
  • NADPH is produced from NADP+.
  • Hydrogen ions diffuse through the protein channel.
  • ADP turns into ATP.

What are the different structures and functions of roots?
seraphim [82]

Different structures and functions of roots

Explanation:

Roots are the underground descending non-green part of the plant.

Root functions: Anchorages the plant to the soil, absorbs water and nutrients from the soil.

Characteristics: Positively geotropic and hydrotropic, negatively phototropic; does not have nodes, internodes or stems.

Types:

  • Tap root
  • Adventitious root – fibrous, foliar and true adventitious roots

Structure and functions:

  • Root cap or Calyptra: Cap-like structure covering the root tip .
  1. Function: protects the meristematic tissues of the root, secretes mucilage which enhances the root tips to grow into the hard soil.
  • Meristematic zone or growing point  sub-terminal behind root cap. These cells are inverted and looks like a dome.
  1. Function – helps in the root growth by adding new cells to the root tip and other basal regions
  • Zone of elongation behind the meristematic zone.
  1. Function – helps in elongation of the root
  • Root hair zone: This is the zone of differentiation where cells differentiate into vascular tissues like phloem, xylem, endodermis, cortex etc.
  1. The main function of root hair is to increase the total surface area of root to facilitate more absorption of water and other nutrients from the soil
  • Zone of maturation: the major and mature portion of a root.
  1. Function  - lateral roots originates from this zone and radial differentiation leads to secondary growth.
