Answer:

The maid lived in a rural setting.

Explanation:

William Wordsworth's poem "She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways" mourns the loss of "<em>Lucy</em>", a fair maiden who <em>"lived unknown"</em>. In a three stanza poem, the speaker mourns the death of the "maid" who was beautiful. But aside from her beauty, she was humble and modest, and did not draw any form of attention to herself.

The poet used the adjective word <em>"untrodden" </em>to signify how simple of a life the maid lived. She "dwelt among the <em>"untrodden"</em>, meaning away from the busy and hectic life, literally meaning the less occupied place. And in this <em>"untrodden"</em> place, she was alone, with <em>"none to praise and very few to love"</em>. And when she died, there were <em>"few"</em> who could know the difference of her presence and absence from the earth. This shows that she lived in a rural place, where there are less or no people.

Anybody who read the christmas carol book

Answer:

On a frigid, foggy Christmas Eve in London, a shrewd, mean-spirited cheapskate named Ebenezer Scrooge works meticulously in his counting-house. Outside the office creaks a little sign reading "Scrooge and Marley"--Jacob Marley, Scrooge's business partner, has died seven years previous. Inside the office, Scrooge watches over his clerk, a poor diminutive man named Bob Cratchit. The smoldering ashes in the fireplace provide little heat even for Bob's tiny room. Despite the harsh weather Scrooge refuses to pay for another lump of coal to warm the office.

Suddenly, a ruddy-faced young man bursts into the office offering holiday greetings and an exclamatory, "Merry Christmas!" The young man is Scrooge's jovial nephew Fred who has stopped by to invite Scrooge to Christmas dinner. The grumpy Scrooge responds with a "Bah! Humbug!" refusing to share in Fred's Christmas cheer. After Fred departs, a pair of portly gentlemen enters the office to ask Scrooge for a charitable donation to help the poor. Scrooge angrily replies that prisons and workhouses are the only charities he is willing to support, and the gentlemen leave empty-handed. Scrooge confronts Bob Cratchit, complaining about Bob's wish to take a day off for the holiday. "What good is Christmas," Scrooge snipes, "that it should shut down business?" He begrudgingly agrees to give Bob a day off but insists that he arrive at the office all the earlier the next day.

Answer: The sentence that uses<em> hamper</em> as a verb is - <em>They hamper the investigation when they ask too many questions.</em>

<em />

Explanation:

As explained above, the meaning of the verb 'hamper' is to prevent someone from doing something easily. The synonyms of this verb would be - to hold back, to hinder, to impede, to obstruct, etc.

In this case, it is implied that, the more questions people ask, the harder it becomes to carry out the investigation. This is the only sentence where this word is used as a verb, while in the rest of the sentences 'hamper' is used as a noun.

Read the passage from a speech by President George W. Bush.
stiks02 [169]

The correct response is “Unless Congress acts, most of the tax relief we've delivered over the past 7 years will be taken away”. The president uses this sentence to reveal the seriousness of the situation. It means that if the "other work" is not done, according to the President, the tax relief will be lost. The "other work" claimed in the first sentence is all that needs to be done to avoid this situation from happening.
