Describe the process by which vaccines induce immunity.
eimsori [14]

Answer:

A vaccine works by training the immune system to recognize and combat pathogens, either viruses or bacteria. To do this, certain molecules from the pathogen must be introduced into the body to trigger an immune response. These molecules are called antigens, and they are present on all viruses and bacteria

Please help i give 48 points !!!which correctly lists the three layers in which water moves easily
Aliun [14]

soil, rock, organic layer

Explanation:

Permeability is the ability of a layer of rock to transmit fluid such as oil or water

The factors that affect the permeability of a rock layer includes the sizes of the rock particles, the ratio of the available voids to the solid mass of the rock, the presence of trapped air and the presence of organic matter

Rocks such as gravels, and  sparingly cemented sands have high permeability

The most impermeable of the options are granite and clay which for granite has large particle mass and contain no voids while clay has very fine particles packed together with little room for water

Therefore, water moves easily between layers  soil, rock, organic layer

What is the determining factor for the transcription of structural genes of the trp operon?
padilas [110]

The right answer is 3. the availability of tryptophan in the environment

The TRP operon regulation depends on the availability of the tryptophan molecule (it depends if the cell need tryptophan or already has it).

There are two modes of regulation of the trp operon: Suppression and Mitigation

*Repression

The synthesis of operon mRNA is controlled by a repressor that blocks transcription when bound by tryptophan, which acts as a co-repressor.

The repressor, a 108 aa homodimer (ie 2 apo-repressor), has helix-turn-helix domains that interact with inverted repeats at the major groove of the operator, thus allowing its fixation.

In the absence of trp, the repressor is inactive and does not attach to the operator. The RNA polymerase can bind to the promoter and transcribe the trp E, D, C, B, A structural genes.

In the presence of trp, the repressor changes conformation and becomes active, so it binds to the operator, preventing RNA polymerase from accessing the promoter so transcription will not occur.

* The Attenuation

This is a premature termination of transcription that is a function of Trp concentration. It takes place at a late moment of transcription while regulation by repression is done during the initiation.

1st Case: Low Trp Rate, Continuous Transcription, → Formation of the Anti-attenuator in the absence of trp, and therefore the synthesis of tryptophan is continued.

2nd case: High rate of trp, stop transcription, → Formation of the attenuator in the presence of trp. This one will attenuate the synthesis of tryptophan.

Which of the following occurs after topsoil is washed away?
aleksandrvk [35]

The answer is; desertification

Topsoil is usually the riches soil in terms of nutrient is important in support of plant vegetation. It is rich because it contains humus and other decomposed materials that recycle nutrients. When the topsoil is washed away, the local region becomes barren in that it cannot support vegetation. This causes the area to turn into a desert.
