-5x-16=9x+x-1   First, you want to combine like terms on each side.
-5x-16=10x-1     Then, you want to cancel out alike terms.
+5x     +5x
-16=15x-1           Continue...
+1        +1
-15=15x              Divide each side by the number in front of x to get x alone.

15    15

x=-1

-5x-16=9x+x-1
Combine the like terms (terms with no or the same variable)
-5x-16=10x-1
now you can group like terms so they're all on one side:
-5x    -16   =   10x    -1
-10x  +16      -10x    +16
-15x          =               15
Now divide both sides by 15
-x=1
x=-1

Hope this helps :)

The midpoint of \overline{\text{AB}}AB is M(-6, -4)M(−6,−4). If the coordinates of AA are (-4, -3)(−4,−3), what are the coordina
valentina_108 [34]

Answer:

The coordinates of B is (-8,-5).

Step-by-step explanation:

The midpoint of line AB is M. The coordinate of M is (-6,-4).

The coordinates of A is (-4,-3)

We need to find the mid point of B.

If M(x,y) is the midpoint of the coordinates (x₁,y₁) and (x₂,y₂). The mid point theorem is used as follows :

M(x,y)=(\dfrac{x_1+x_2}{2},\dfrac{y_1+y_2}{2})

Let the mid point of B is (x₂,y₂). Put (x,y) = (-6,-4), (x₁,y₁) = (-4,-3).

(-6,-4)=(\dfrac{-4+x_2}{2},\dfrac{-3+y_2}{2})\\\\\dfrac{-4+x_2}{2}=-6\ \text{and}\ \dfrac{-3+y_2}{2}=-4\\\\-4+x_2=-12\ \text{and}\ -3+y_2=-8\\\\x_2=-12+4\ \text{and}\ y_2=-8+3\\\\x_2=-8\ \text{and}\ y_2=-5

So, the coordinates of B is (-8,-5).

Lots of points.
Kazeer [188]

Answer:

1.  Not a function.

2. This is a function.

3. This is a function.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. 13 maps on to 4 and -4 so not a function.

2 and 3 - these both pass the vertical line test so they are functions.

The sum of 5 consecutive odd numbers is 145
xeze [42]

The sum of 5 consecutive odd integers is 145. These are the other 4 consecutive odd numbers. Now if we add all of these up we will get this : 25 + 27 + 29 + 31 + 33 = 145.

Hope I helped! ☺☼
