In the period between 1804-12, in the United States, Tertium Quids used to refer multiple factions of the Democratic-Republican Party. This term "quid" was practiced in the early phase of the nineteenth century to indicate to a segment of a third political party or team comprised of antagonistic Jeffersonian (or Democratic) Republicans, who brought Federalist assistance with changing fortune. The desire of Jefferson provoked the formation of the Tertium Quids in 1808.
