The Clean Air Act is a federal law passed by United States of America in the year 1970. The motive of the Clean Air Act is to protect the environment and human health from the effects of air pollution. The law is later amended in 1977 and 1990.

60% of the major air pollutants causing smog and particulate pollution are reduced under Clean Air Act. The law helps in reducing the pollution caused by acid rain. Emission of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide is reduced to an extent to improve the health of general public.
