     Then, Area = 2(13)^2 - 5(13)
                        = 338 - 65
                        = 273 sq ft

If you let 2x-5 = 13:
                  2x = 18
                    x = 6
 
     Then, Area = 2(6)^2 - 5(6)
                        = 72 - 30
                        = 42 sq ft
