Representative Democracy Disadvantages

History
1 answer:
ivolga24 [154]3 years ago

Answer:

The citizens do not have a direct say. It encourages deception. The majority rules at expense of the minority.

Explanation:

The citizens do not have a direct say: The person who represents the citizens has the true say. let's say there are 3 people down a line. the first person is the citizens. Let's say the first person says, oranges are good. the next person in line agrees with them so they say oranges are good. the third person in line disagrees with both of them but the majority ruled, orange's are good, so they go with the majority, because that's usually the best decision. however they don't have to go with the majority, and could say that oranges are bad but bananas are good. so the person that receives the final message, only hears, oranges are bad but bannanas are good, which is not what the citizens voted.

It encourages deception: let's take the American presidency for instance. Someone running for office, could say while they are running, that they are going to bring world peace, and keep it. let's also say that they actually could do that. so everyone votes for them because they want world peace. then when they get elected, they dont have to follow what they said they would do, and instead they go and blow up Australia. Once elected they can do basically what ever they want.

The majority rules at expense of the minority: let's take the example of again American politics (sorry I only know American politics). let's use the example of the LGBTQ minority. for essentially the entire history of America, the majority (white males) made rules, that costed the LGBTQ community. such as Bill Clinton's Defense Of Marriage Act, passed in September 21, 1996, it defined marriage for federal purposes, as the union of man and woman. however it also allows individual states to recognize or not same sex marriages.

Nataly [62]

Answer:

imperialism

Explanation:

The Japanese made lot of reforms, and some of those reforms were the political views, and the military. The Japanese leaders were well aware that in order to make Japan a very strong nation they need a lot of natural resources int their possession. This meant that they needed to occupy new territories. For this purpose, the Japanese modernized their military, and made it one of the strongest in its time. Once they thought they are powerful enough, the Japanese started to launch attacks on Russia, and then on China, marking the beginning of the Japanese imperialism. The island nation was very successful in its imperialist goals, managing to occupy parts of China, some Russia islands, Korea, large portion of Southeast Asia, and thousands of Pacific islands.
