Answer:

D. Revival of the ideal of a unified Christian community

B. It was situated on a strait connecting two major waterways used for trade

A. Trade slowed greatly, and western Europe became politically divided

A. He conquered roman territories seized by invaders

D. He magnificently rebuilt the city of Constantinople

Explanation:

When Charlemagne became emperor of the Romans in 800, a new age began for Europe. Charlemagne was able to unite the majority of western and central Europe. He was the first ruler to accomplish this since the Roman empire. This led to a revival of the ideal unified Christian community.

The main reason why Constantinople was chosen as a second capital of the Roman empire was because of its strategic geographical location. Constantinople was located between Europe and Asia, and it served as a connection between the two areas. Moreover, the city was access to two major waterways which made it an excellent location for trade.

With the fall of the Roman Empire, trade in Europe slowed down considerably. Institutions that were established by the Romans were no longer in use, and this lead to the fragmentation of Europe into separate kingdoms and other political areas.

Emperor Justinian was the Eastern Roman emperor from 527 to 565. Justinian was very significant in achieving the restoration of the Roman Empire. He was able to reconquer the western Roman territories that had been seized by invaders. He also rebuilt the city of Constantinople.
