How does the age of seafloor sediment change with increasing distance from the ocean ridge?

The sediments of the seafloor, the further they are from the ocean ridge, the older they are, and vice versa, the closer they are to the ocean ridge, the younger they are.

This redistribution of the age of the seafloor is due to the way the new crust forms. The new crust is forming where there's a divergent tectonic boundary between two oceanic plates. Because they leave a gap between them, the magma from the mantle manages to come to the surface. As it comes to the surface it starts to create the ocean ridge, which is essentially an underwater mountain range. Because the magma is constantly pushing and more and more material is coming out, the seafloor i pushed sideways constantly, thus the oldest sediments are the furthest, and the youngest are on the ocean ridge itself.

Which of Stenos principals states that layers spread out?
Vlad [161]
<span>Steno’s final principle is the “principle of lateral continuity,” which says that sediment layers spread out until they reach an obstacle that keeps them from spreading further, the way soup spreads out in a bowl until it reaches the sides of the dish. “Wherever bared edges of strata are seen,” he wrote, “either a continuation of that same strata must be looked for or another solid substance must be found that kept the material of the strata from being dispersed.”

Why is groundwater so important to us? what is the primary way individuals waste fresh water?
Olenka [21]

Groundwater is important for us as it is the greatest source for freshwater, crop irrigation and agricultural activities.

In general, groundwater is present in reservoirs and aquifers below the surface of the earth and also most crucial natural source of water for any nation. Groundwater provides fresh drinking water to almost 50% of global population. With an ever increase in global population, the use of groundwater is also increasing.

The primary way of wasting fresh water is its overuse in households such as in kitchen, toilets for taking long showers, washing and bathing purposes.

We can save groundwater by avoiding unnecessary leakage, unnecessary showers, and decreasing shower time.
