1Poe really was the inventor of the detective story, which he called the "ratiocinative" tale. 2Here believing the effect intend

ed was "to perplex the reader and whet his desire for elucidation," he originated two devices useful to this day. 3One might be called "the device of the baffled friend": He gave his brilliant detective a companion not good at solutions and had him tell the story. 4Viewing the happenings through this narrator's eyes, the reader shares his growing puzzlement. 5Poe used his second device at the tale's end: He had the detective disclose his surprising solution and then "elucidate" step by step the reasoning which led to it. 6"The Purloined Letter" demonstrated Poe's use of these two devices in a detective story.

Ratiocination is the process of logical reasoning. A ratiocinative tale is a type of detective story in which there is a conflict or a case the detective needs to solve, following clues is a logical process. The attractive aspect of these stories is that the clues tend to be misinterpreted by some of the characters, which leads the reader to follow this train of thought, and it is only at the end that the detective reveals the truth, disclosing the true meaning behind the different clues.

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

I would design a poster depicting some ancient and modern wonders of the country. I would highlight the national flag in the middle of the poster that would be surrounded by these pictures of natural wonders,  historic sites, and national monuments.

Then, I would include legends such as: "This magnificent sites belonged to your forefathers, and will be inherited to our sons. Respect them." Or "These wonders have supported the test of time. Be proud of them and make your children love them."
