Read this excerpt from The Miracle Worker.
mamaluj [8]

Answer: D

Explanation: You can use process of elimination to figure out the answer for this one. You do still, of course, need to read the passage. They are asking for a summary of the scene, so something that is brief, but covers all of the points in the excerpt.

A) Anagos notices that Annie's eyes are closed, and he discusses her life in Tewksbury and her time at Perkins.

A does not seem like it would be the answer because of the formatting. In the story yes, Anagnos notices that Annie's eyes are closed, but first he talks about her time at Perkins and what she's accomplished. Not Tewskbury first.

B) Anagos praises Annie's work at Perkins and mentions her previous time in Tewksbury, a town on the Ipswich River.

B is possible, however. In the passage it is established that Perkins is a school, and does not establish that Tewksbury is a town, not a school. Although Anagos does praise Annie's work at Perkins and how far she has come.

C) Anagos is cruel as he expresses doubts about Annie's ability to leave Perkins and begin teaching.

C is almost outright a major no. Anagos does not come off as cruel during the passage, and while he does express concern, he also says her time at Perkins was also tough.

D) Anagos describes Annie's progress at Perkins and her strong will, and he expresses concerns about her attitude.

The timeline is correct, and although it does not cover every little detail of the conversation. It seems like it is the best answer for a summary of the excerpt. And all of the other have already been nixed from a potential correct answer.
