First, find the slope of the line using the formula for slope:

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

m = (4 - (-2)) / (-3 - 2) = -6/5

Then, use the point-slope formula using a point that you were given and the slope that you calculated.

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y - 4 = (-6/5)(x + 3)

Then, simply get y alone.

y = (-6/5)x + 2/5

The number of paper clips that Crystal has is 42 divided by the number of paper clips that Gayle has. If
Nikolay [14]

Answer:

The number of paper clips that Crystal has is 3 and the number of paper clips that Gayle has is 14

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x----> the number of paper clips that Crystal has

y --->   the number of paper clips that Gayle has

we know that

y=x+11 ----> equation A

x=42/y ----> equation B

substitute equation A in equation B

x=\frac{42}{x+11} \\ \\x^{2} +11x=42\\ \\x^{2} +11x-42=0

Solve the quadratic equation by graphing

The solution is x=3\ paper\ clips

see the attached figure

Find the value of y

y=3+11=14\ paper\ clips

therefore

The number of paper clips that Crystal has is 3

The number of paper clips that Gayle has is 14
