Debates about the possibility of colonists having their own hanging militia groups in defense against Native Americans were the gateway to major issues such as "no taxation without representativeness," smuggling and the significance of mercantilism.

The American Revolution was an imperial rebellion that happened from 1765 to 1783..  

"No taxation without representation" is a political slogan which, in the 1700s, summed up one of the 27 colonial complaints of the US settlers in the 13 colonies, one of the American Revolution's biggest causes.

They promoted British mercantilism by allowing all the US companies to traverse English ports, ships in England and to help Britain instead of colonists.

Although the British assumed in mercantilism, PM Robert Walpole spoke of "healthy negligence," a system established between 1607 and 1763, whereby the British maintained external trade relations laxly, this system was implemented. This enhanced independence was thought to improve trade. Walpole claimed.
