Harold found a puzzle with many pieces. He asked Carmen and Emma to help him solve the puzzle. He gave Carmen half his pieces. H

arold then gave Emma two-thirds of the pieces he had left after giving pieces to Carmen. Now, Harold has 12 pieces left over to help in solving the puzzle.

Answer:

72 pieces

Step-by-step explanation:

Basically split it up into

(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)

Ok so the bolded ones go to Carmen

(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)

so we are left with

(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)

the italics go to Emma

(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)

so now Harold only has 1/6 of the puzzle pieces which is 12 pieces.

Multiply 6 by 12 and you get 72

(Also Harold seems rude, giving so much work to his friends when its HIS puzzle) i swear you cant trust no one these days hmph

Is rectangle EFGH the result of a dilation of rectangle ABCD with a center of dilation at the origin? Why or why not?
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

Yes, because both figures are rectangles and all rectangles are similar (B)

Question:

The complete question related to this found at brainly (question Id: 2996738) is stated below:

Is rectangle EFGH the result of a dilation of rectangle ABCD with a center of dilation at the origin? Why or why not?

a. Yes, because corresponding sides are parallel and have lengths in the ratio 1/4

b. Yes, because both figures are rectangles and all rectangles are similar.

c. No, because the center of dilation is not at (0, 0).

d. No, because corresponding sides have different slopes

Step-by-step explanation:

Coordinates of rectangle EFGH

E (-4,4), F(4,4), G(-4,0), H (4,0)

EF = 8

FG =4

GH= 8

HE= 4

Coordinates of rectangle ABCD

A (-3,3), B(3,3), C(-3,0), D (3,0)

AB = 6

BC = 3

CD = 6

DA = 3

Find attached the diagram.

Image = EFGH, pre-image = ABCD

Scale factor = (sides of the image)/(sides of the pre-image)

= 8/6 = 4/3

Similar shapes have same shapes but different sizes. From the result obtained, the two shapes are similar with different sizes.

Rectangle EFGH is the result of a dilation of rectangle ABCD with a center of dilation at the origin.

Reason: the lines connecting the coordinates of both shapes meet at the origin. And also both figures are rectangles and all rectangles are similar (B)

How do i get the solution to graph 2x+3y=12
Pavel [41]
2x + 3y = 12

I am going to put this in y = mx + b form, where m is ur slope and b is ur y intercept.
2x + 3y = 12
3y = -2x + 12
y = -2/3x + 4......slope is -2/3 and y int is (0,4)

x int can be found by subbing in 0 for y and solving for x
2x + 3y = 12
2x + 3(0) = 12
2x = 12
x = 6.....so x int is (6,0)

start at y int (0,4).....and since the slope is -2/3, come down 2 spaces, and to the right 3 spaces, then down 2 spaces, to the right 3 spaces....keep doing that and u should cross the x axis at (6,0)

What is the area of the circle shown below?
Blizzard [7]

Answer:

A. 1520.5 cm^2

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a circle can be found using the following equation:

a=\pi r^2

In this problem, the radius (from the center of the circle to the circumference of the circle) is 22 centimeters. Therefore, we can substitute 22 cm in for r.

r=22 cm

a=\pi *22 cm^2

First, evaluate the exponent.

22 cm ^2= 22 cm * 22 cm= 484 cm^2

a=\pi *484cm^2

Multiply pi and 484

a=1520.53084 cm^2

Round to the nearest tenth. The 3 in the hundredth place tell us to leave the 5 in the tenth place.

a= 1520.5 cm^2

The area of the circle is 1520.5 square centimeters and A is correct.
