Balkan is surrounded by 3 sides of water; the neighboring regions to the east, west, or south, the narrow channels of Bosphorus and the Dardanellas which are the natural passage between Anatolia and Balkans, and beyond Asia. Balkan is unsurprisingly a region that has been intersections for traffic accessing to and from all these destinations.
