U.S. craft-beer breweries (breweries that make fewer than 6 million barrels annually and are less than 25% owned by big brewerie

s) have been doing a booming business. The number of these small breweries from 2008 through 2012 can be modeled by using a quadratic function of the form f(t) = at² + bt + c where a, b, and c are constants and t is measured in years, with t = 0 corresponding to 2008.
(a) Find a, b, and c if f(0) = 1547, f(2) = 1802, and f(4) = 2403.
(b) Use the model obtained in part (a) to estimate the number of craft-beer breweries in 2016, assuming that the trend continued. (Round your answer to the nearest integer.)

Answer:

(a) a = 43.25 , b = 41 and c = 1547

(b) The number of craft-beer breweries in 2016 = 4643

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the number of small craft-beer breweries from 2008 to 2012 is modeled by using a quadratic function of the form f(t) = at² + bt + c where a, b, and c are constants and t is measured in years, with t = 0 corresponding to 2008.

(a) Now we have to find these constants given f(0) = 1547, f(2) = 1802, and f(4) = 2403.

So, <em>f(0) = </em>a*(0)^{2} + b*(0) + c<em> which implies that </em><em>c = 1547</em><em>.</em>

<em>f(2) = </em>a*(2)^{2} + b*(2) + c<em> = 4a + 2b + c</em>

  4a + 2b + c = 1802 ----------- [Equation 1]

<em>f(4) = </em>a*(4)^{2} + b*(4) + c<em> = 16a + 4b + c </em>

   16a + 4b + c = 2403 ----------- [Equation 2]

Further solving Equation 1 we get;   4a + 2b + 1547 = 1802

                  4a + 2b = 1802 - 1547  ;   4a + 2b = 255 ----------- [Equation 3]

Further solving Equation 2 we get;   16a + 4b + 1547 = 2403

                  16a + 4b = 2403 - 1547  ;   16a + 4b = 856 ----------- [Equation 4]

Now, Solving Equation 3 and 4 we get ;

          a = 43.25 and b = 41 .

Therefore, values of constants a, b and c are 43.25, 41 and 1547 respectively.

(b) So, model we obtained in part (a) is represented as :

                  f(t) = 43.25t^{2} + 41t + 1547

Now to estimate the number of craft-beer breweries in 2016, assuming that the trend continued we know that t would be 8 as 2016 - 2008 = 8 years.

<em>So, f(8) = </em>43.25*(8)^{2} + 41*8 + 1547<em> = 4643.</em>

A jet climbs at a steady rate at an angle of inclination of 0.5 degree during game off what will its he height be after a 2.2 km
Aneli [31]
A right triangle will be formed with 2.2 km as the hypotenuse, 0.5 degrees as the angle, and an unknown height (see attachment).

Recall the trigonmetric ratios sine, cosine, and tangent that can be used for right triangles.
Sin<span>θ = opposite side/hypotenuse
</span>Cos<span>θ = adjacent side/hypotenuse
</span>tan<span>θ = opposite side / adjacent side
</span>θ (theta) refers to the angle (not the right angle). In this case, θ is the given angle of 0.5°.

In this problem, you will use sine because there is a side opposite to the angle (the unknown side h) and the hypotenuse, and sine relates those two sides.

Let the variable h represent the unknown opposite side, the height.
sin(0.5°) = h / (2.2km)
h = (2.2km)sin(0.5<span>°)
h = 0.019 km

Hope I helped! If you have questions on any of the steps, please comment below.</span>

How many baseballs equal one pineapple?
Zigmanuir [339]

Let a be an apple, b be a baseball, p be a pineapple and s be a shoe.

Then, from the balance, we model these equations:

p + b = s     ----- (1)

2s = 4a

Divide both sides by 2.

s = 2a

Substitute in (1), we get,

p + b = 2a   ----- (2)

Also,

p = a + b   -----  (3)

Substitute the above in (2), we get,

(a + b) + b = 2a

a + 2b = 2a

Subtract a from both sides.

a = 2b

Substitute in (3), we get,

p = 2b + b = 3b

Hence, 3 baseballs equal one pineapple.

15. Simplify an expression for the area of the<br>rectangle shown below.<br>8x - 2.<br>4.<br>
lyudmila [28]

Answer:

Area of the rectangle  A   = 32 x - 8

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>Explanation:-</em></u>

Given that the length of the rectangle(l) = 8x-2

Given that the width of the rectangle (w) = 4

Area of the rectangle = length × width

                         A   = (8x - 2) × 4

                         A   = 32 x - 8

<u><em>Final answer</em></u>:-

Area of the rectangle  A   = 32 x - 8
