Ben is decorating his home with vases of flowers. He bought glass vases that cost $22 each and ceramic vases that cost $14 each.

The total cost of the vases came to more than $172. Also, Ben bought no more than 10 vases in all. Which system of inequalities can be used to determine the number of glass vases, x, and the number of ceramic vases, y, that Ben could have bought?

Number of glass vases bought = x

Number of ceramic vases = y

Ben bought no more than 10 vases in all.

So total number of vases can be represented as:

x+y\leq10

Cost of one glass vase = $22

Cost of x glass vases = 22x

Cost of one ceramic vase = $14

Cost of y ceramic vases = 14y

Total cost of vases is more than $172

So the equation for cost is:

22x+14y\geq172

Answer:

So the system of inequalities that can be used are:

x+y\leq10

22x+14y\geq172

Let's say we have a box with 6 marbles: 3 red, 1 blue, 1 green, and 1 yellow. What is the probability of picking a yellow marble
Amanda [17]
B. 1/30

Explanation: First you find the probability of picking a yellow marble, 1/6. Then you multiply the probability of picking a blue marble, 1/5 since there are now only five marbles total. Then multiply those to see what the final probability is, 1/6*1/5=1/30.
