A university is trying to determine what price to charge for tickets to football games. At a price of $ per ticket, attendance
Anika [276]

This question is incomplete, the complete question is;

A university is trying to determine what price to charge for tickets to football games. At a price of $24 per ticket, attendance averages 40,000 people per game. Every decrease of $4 adds 10,000 people to the average number. Every person at the game spends an average of $4 on concessions. What price per ticket should be charged in order to maximize revenue? How many people will attend at that price?

Answer:

a) price per ticket = $18

b) 55,000 will attend at that price

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that;

price of ticket = $24

so cost of ticket = 24 - x

every decrease of $4 adds 10,000 people

for $1 adds 2,500 people

Total people = 40000 + 2500x

Revenue function = people × cost + people × 4

so

R(x) = (40000 + 2500x)(24 - x) + (40000 + 2500x)4

R(x) = 960,000 - 40000x + 60000x - 2500x² + 160,000 + 10000x

R(x) = 1120000 + 30000x - 2500x²

R(x) = -2500x² + 30000x + 1120000

now for maximum revenue; R'(x) is to zero

so

R'(x) = d/dx(  -2500x² + 30000x + 1120000 ) = 0

⇒ -5000x + 30000 + 0 = 0

⇒ -5000x + 30000 = 0

⇒ 5000x = 30000

x = 30000 / 5000

x = 6

R'(X) = -5000 < 0 ⇒ MAXIMUM

∴ Revenue is maximum at x = 6

so cost of ticket ;

price per ticket = (24 - x) = 24 - 6 = $18

so price per ticket = $18

Number of people = 40000 + 2500x

= 40000 + (2500 × 6)

= 40000 + 15,000

= 55,000

Therefore, 55,000 will attend at that price

The sum of three consecutive numbers is 267.what is the largest number
iris [78.8K]
Rather than trial and error, you can do this with an equation.

x + x+1 + x+2 = 267 =>
3x+3 = 267
x = 264/3 = 88

So the numbers are 88+89+90. 90 is the largest number.

Explain your answer please ;w; : Change -2Y - 2X = -6 to the slope intercept form of the equation of a line.
Serhud [2]

Answer:

y = -x + 2

Step-by-step explanation:

The desired equation must have the form y = mx + b.

Start with -2Y - 2X = -6 and solve for y:              y + x = 2

Now solve this result for y:

y = -x + 2

Convert the percent to a decimal
Zanzabum

Answer:

40.0

18%

14.375%

1/250

38

6325

Step-by-step explanation:

Convert the percent to a decimal  4,000%

4000% = 4000/100 = 40.0

Convert the decimal or whole number to a percent.

0.36 * 1/2

= 0.36/2 * 100

= 0.18 * 100

= 18%

Convert the decimal or whole number to a percent.

1.15 * 1/8

= 1.15/8 * 100

= 14.375%

Convert the percent to a reduced fraction, mixed number, or whole number.

0.4%

= 0.4/100

= 1/250

Solve for the portion (in $). Round to hundredths when necessary.

9  1/2% of $400 = 19/2% x 400

= 0.095 x 400

= 38

Solve for the portion. Round to hundredths when necessary.

What number is 253% of 2,500?

253/100 x 2500

= 2.53 x 2500

= 6325
