Glucose transporters for brain cells

Health

5 0

The main glucose transporters in the brain are Glut1 and Glut3. Of these, Glut1 exists in two isoforms of different molecular weights. ... Another feature of Glut1 is its uneven distribution between the cytoplasm and the luminal and the abluminal membranes of the endothelial cells, as demonstrated by electron microscopy.

Glucose, the major fuel in the brain, is transported across the cell membranes by facilitated diffusion mediated by glucose transporter proteins. Essentially two types of glucose transporters are localized in the membranes of brain endothelial cells, astrocytes, and neurons.

How is regular physical activity<br> related to osteoporosis and arthritis?
iVinArrow [24]

Answer:

Daily physical activity helps to prevent osteoporosis and osteoarthritis

Explanation:

Osteoporosis is a disease caused by the loss of bone density, making bones fragile and more likely to break, while arthritis can be defined as the inflammation of the joints, which may be caused by the breaking of the bones. The most severe type of arthritis is osteoarthritis. Physical exercise helps to slow the rate of bone loss, thereby it is possible to prevent bone diseases such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis by making regular physical activity, reducing thus the risk of bone fractures. Moreover, physical activity may also help to maintain muscles that work together with the bones to support every movement. It is also important to highlight that healthy food habits such as, for example, adequate daily consumption of vitamin D and calcium can also help to prevent bone loss.
