Three genes (A, B, and C) at three loci are being mapped in a particular species. Each gene has two alleles, one of which result

s in a phenotype that is markedly different from the wild type. The unusual allele of gene A is inherited with the unusual allele of gene B or C about 50% of the time. However, the unusual alleles of genes B and C are inherited together 14.4% of the time. Which of the following describes what is happening?A. The three genes are showing independent assortment.B. The three genes are showing independent assortment.C. Gene A is linked but genes B and C are not.D. Gene A is assorting independently of genes B and C, which are linked.E. Gene A is located 14.4 map unites from genes B and C.`

Answer:

The correct answer is:

D. Gene A is assorting independently of genes B and C, which are linked.

Explanation:

According to the text it is possible to deduce that the first allele of gene A appears with allele of gene B or C half of times. On the other side alleles of genes B or C appear at the same time in 14.4% of the cases. This information shows how A is and independent variable and how B and C are related as they appear together as well.

Why is it important to stain youngcultures of bacteria with
the grain stain?
uranmaximum [27]

Answer:

Because older cultures of gram-positive bacteria tend to lose their ability to retain crystal-violet in the peptidoglycan of their cell walls and can be confused with gram-negative bacteria.

Explanation:

Gram staining is used to differentiate between two major groups of bacteria. Gram-positive and gram-negative, these bacteria differ in the amount of peptidoglycan in their cell walls. Gram-positive bacteria have a higher amount of peptidoglycan, which absorbs the violet crystal complex used in gram staining, staining them purple/violet. Old cultures of gram-positive bacteria tend to lose the ability to retain the violet crystal and are stained by safranine, staining them red/pink and appear to be gram-negative.

Enzyme hot spring graphing what enzymes probably came from the digestive tract of the mondoni
AURORKA [14]
I found the full exercise on the internet and it describes that there are three enzymes and you want to know which are the two enzymes from the digestive tract of the mondoni and which one is the enzyme from a hot spring.
Attached are two graphs from the analysis of the activity of these enzymes regarding temperature and pH. I found these graphs with the full exercise.
The enzymes that probably came from the digestive tract of the mondoni were enzymes A and B. These enzymes were resistant two lower levels of pH which indicates that they could be present in a digestive tract, which tends to be acidic, while the enzyme C does not tolerate lower pH levels. Enzymes A and B were also more active when in lower temperatures that match temperatures of a normal living organism, whereas enzyme C was more active in higher temperatures matching its probable provenience - a hot spring.
