One of the aims of the Contract with America was to reduce poverty and expand economic opportunities.

The Contract with America was a document drafted by the Republican Party in occasion of the 1994 Congress elections. This contract included promises of actions that the Republican majority in the Chamber would implement within the first hundred days of the legislature if they were elected, relying on the fears of the average citizen, such as poverty and unemployment, among others. The contract seems to have worked, as the Republicans actually earned the majority of seats in the House of Representatives, but the commitments have not been fully respected.

Direct democracy puts all of the power in the hands of the people, which causes more people to come out and vote, as well as to educate themselves on the happenings of the world and their country.
