Let A, B, and C be sets in a universal set U. We are given n(U) = 75, n(A) = 39, n(B) = 43, n(C) = 43, n(A ∩ B) = 27, n(A ∩ C) =

21, n(B ∩ C) = 28, n(A ∩ B ∩ CC) = 12. Find the following values.
(a) n(AC ∩ B ∩ C)

b) n(A ∩ BC ∩ CC)?

a.

B\cap C=(B\cap C)\cap(A\cup A^c)=(A\cap B\cap C)\cup(A^c\cap B\cap C)

which means

n(B\cap C)=n(A\cap B\cap C)+n(A^c\cap B\cap C)

\implies n(A^c\cap B\cap C)=28-n(A\cap B\cap C)

Similarly,

n(A\cap B)=n(A\cap B\cap C)+n(A\cap B\cap C^c)

\implies n(A\cap B\cap C)=27-12=15

Then

n(A^c\cap B\cap C)=28-15=\boxed{13}

b.

n(A)=n(A\cap(B\cup C))+n(A\cap(B\cup C)^c)

n(A)=n(A\cap(B\cup C))+n(A\cap B^c\cap C^c)

\implies n(A\cap B^c\cap C^c)=39-n(A\cap(B\cup C))

Note that A\cap(B\cup C)=(A\cap B)\cup(A\cap C).

By the inclusion-exclusion principle,

n(A\cap(B\cup C))=n(A\cap B)+n(A\cap C)-n((A\cap B)\cap(A\cap C))

and (A\cap B)\cap(A\cap C)=A\cap B\cap C, so

n(A\cap(B\cup C))=27+21-15=33

Then

n(A\cap B^c\cap C^c)=39-33=\boxed6

Points A, B, and C are collinear and B is between A and C. You are given AC = 18 and BC = 4. What is the value of AB?
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

The value of AB is 14

Step-by-step explanation:

When we say a set of points are collinear, what we mean is that those points are on the same straight line i.e they lie on a straight line.

Now B is between A and C

Since B is between A and C

Then mathematically;

AC = AB + BC

18 = AB + 4

AB = 18-4

AB = 14

The graph represents a person’s heart rate in beats per minute during 30 minutes of exercise. Which statement best describes th
DanielleElmas [232]

We know that

when we start exercise our hear beats starts increasing gradually

because blood flowing rate becomes higher

and it keeps increasing upto a certain limit

because for normal human beings maximum heart rate is 135 beats per minute

and it remains constant there for few minutes

and as we slow down slowly

It will start decreasing  gradually and then becomes normal

we can see the graph

so,

The heart rate increases for 6 minutes, remains constant for 19 minutes, and then gradually decreases for 5 minutes..........Answer
