Humphrey won the nomination in 1968, at the Democratic National Convention. He won the party’s nomination at the Convention on his first ballot. His won was on the amidst riots in Chicago. Humphrey running mate was unpopular senator, Edmund Muskie from Maine. During his election. Humphrey opposed former Vice President, Richard Nixon from California as the Republican Party Nominee.

During the general election, Nixon led in almost polls. He successfully disrupted Humphrey’s role in Vietnam. He connected Humphrey to the unpopular president and the chaos in the nation. As a result, Humphrey experienced a surge in the polls. Before he won the presidential election, Humphrey has done a lot of work in politics. Such as:
