But <em>The National Era</em>, where the novel started out as a series of articles, was an abolitionist newspaper from <em>Washington D.C.</em>;

the novel was also published by John P Jewett and Co <em>(a Boston Publisher)</em> and later by Kingsport Press in book form around 1852 with a huge success.
