Answer:

. Vulnerability to

develop an addiction to drugs is dependent on genetic, environmental, social and

biological factors. In particular, the interactions of environmental and genetic factors

indicate the significance of epigenetic mechanisms, which have been found to occur in

response to illicit drug use or as underlying factors in chronic substance abuse and

relapse. Epigenetics is defined as the heritable and possibly reversible modifications in

gene expression that do not involve alterations in the DNA sequence. This review

discusses the various types of epigenetic modifications and their relevance to drug

addiction to elucidate whether epigenetics is a predisposing factor, or a response to,

developing an addiction to drugs of abuse.

Answer:

Genetics is the study of genes. Genes are functional units of DNA that make up the human genome. They provide the information that directs a body's basic cellular activities. Research on the human genome has shown that, on average, the DNA sequences of any two people are 99.9 percent the same. However, that 0.1 percent variation is profoundly important. t accounts for three million differences in the nearly three billion base pairs of DNA sequence. These differences contribute to visible variations, like height and hair color, and invisible traits, such as increased risk for or protection from certain diseases such as heart attack, stroke, diabetes, and addiction. Genetics and lifestyle factors—such as diet, physical activity, and stress—affect high blood pressure risk. NIDA research has led to discoveries about how a person's surroundings affect drug use in particular. For example, a community that provides healthy after-school activities has been shown to reduce vulnerability to drug addiction, and data show that access to exercise can discourage drug-seeking behavior, an effect that is more pronounced in males than in females.

Which strategies should be used to answer short answer or essay questions
Firdavs [7]
For short answer skip the ones you don't know and then go back to them at the end. Write the essays first so you don't run out of time. If you don't know the material fully just put down what you do know and then reword it a few ways to make your essay longer. Also, look for clues in the other test questions that could give you information on either responses. Hope that helped!

Which verbal cues would help a speaker develop ethos with an audience? select all that apply. using technical terms or jargon an
Stella [2.4K]

using a multitude of space fillers speaking loudly enough for everyone to hear knowing what he is going to say so as to avoid space fillers

What is space fillers?

a short, unimportant article written to fill space in a magazine or newspaper

"Actually" is merely a pause word that a user inserts into a sentence while pondering what to say next or to emphasize the obvious. However, the obvious does not require reinforcement.

Fillers are composed of sugar molecules or hyaluronic acids, collagens (which can come from pigs, cows, cadavers, or be generated in a laboratory), the person's own transplanted fat, and biosynthetic polymers.

Fillers can help people understand what you're saying.

Perhaps the most obvious effect, fillers show that a speaker is still actively speaking – that they still want the airtime.

Write a conversation between two people sitting on stairs !
dolphi86 [110]

Answer:

Scene: Two friends meet on the street.

"Hello, John. How are you?"

"I am just fine. And how are you, Martha?"

"Thank you for asking. I am fine. How's your job search coming along."

"My job search is going rather slowly, I'm afraid. Are you still working at Smith and Sons?"

Wasn't that painful to read? The characters are lifeless. You would never speak in that manner in real life, so please don't ever have your characters do it.

Here's a more likely scenario:

"Hey, John, what's up?" Martha asked.

"Not much, you?"

"Same old. You still out job hunting?"

"Yeah, sorry to say. You still at Smith & Sons?"

Now add some filler (deeper POV):

"Hey, John, what's up?" Martha's attempted smile never reached her pretty green eyes. She bit her bottom lip.

John considered his friend for a moment then heaved the heavy backpack off his shoulders. It hit the ground with a thud. "Not much, you?"

"Same old." Martha's voice was so low he had to step closer to hear. "You still out job hunting?" she said as she studied the sidewalk and ran the toe of her shoe along a crack.

"Yeah, sorry to say." He gently lifted her chin to peer into her face. Tears were about to spill there. He felt the pull of her chin as she tried to turn away. "You still at Smith and Sons or did something happen?"

Now we have two living, breathing characters
