hich diseased meat can enter the city and be put on sale in the markets. The public has made no effort to find out and it is left to the men who deal in this merchandise to dump what they please into the stomachs of the blissfully ignorant public. Neither do any of us know how much disease and suffering this food causes. What was a cost of the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906? More people died because FDA inspections reduced access to food, leading people to consume spoiled food. Many quality medications were no longer produced because they did not meet FDA requirements. Which of the following characterizes the economic system favored by Adam Smith? Profit is not the main goal of business. Mercant
Damm [24]

The correct answer is: " Supply and demand regulate business"

According to the central thesis of The Wealth of Nations, the key to social welfare lies in economic growth, which is enhanced through the division of labor and free competition. According to this thesis, the division of labor, in turn, deepens as the extension of the markets and therefore specialization expand. For his part, Adam Smith considers free competition as the most ideal means of economics, stating that the contradictions engendered by the laws of the market would be corrected by what he called the "invisible hand" of the system.

In The Wealth of Nations, Smith assumes, in general, that the demand is relatively fixed in the short and medium term (depending ultimately on the number of people), and that, consequently, it is only the offer that makes the price go up or down

Which of these put stress on public services offered in American cities during the late 19th century and early 20th century?
bogdanovich [222]

The situation that caused stress on public services offered in American cities during the late 19th century and early 20th century was: Migration from farms to cities.

Migration from farms to cities massively increased the number of population that should be eligible to obtain government benefits in that area destination. This lead to an increase of work load for government workers in that period and caused stress on public services offered by the cities.
