The error in the given equation is that the product of 24 and x is equal to 8

while the original product according to sentence is of 8 and x which is equal to 24

Step-by-step explanation:

we will convert the given sentence into equation to compare it with the given equation.

Let x be the number

Then

"8 multiplied by a number x."

8x

"24 is 8 multiplied by a number x."

24 is a product of 8 and x so

8x = 24

The error in the given equation is that the product of 24 and x is equal to 8

while the original product according to sentence is of 8 and x which is equal to 24

Howard is laying an oak wooden floor in his house. The measurements of the floor are 14.5 feet by 40 feet. The wood is packaged
tatyana61 [14]
First you need to find the area of the floor to know how much wood you need
Area=lengthxwidth, so A=40x14.5 which equals 580 square ft
With a floor that's 580 square ft and the boxes cover 18 Sq ft each then all you have to do is 580/18= 32.222 and because you can't buy .222 of a box you need to round up to 33 boxes

If the surface area of the box in the diagram is 204.25 square feet, what is the value of ‘x’?
Alexandra [31]

Note: Consider x be the breadth of the box.

Given:

The surface area of the box is 204.25 square feet.

Length of the box = 10 ft

Breadth of the box = x ft

Height of the box = 6.5 ft

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

The surface area of a cuboid is:

SA=2(lb+bh+hl)

Where, l is length, b is breadth and h is height of the cuboid.

Putting SA=204.25, l=10,\ b=x,\ h=6.5 in the above formula, we get

204.25=2(10\times x+x\times 6.5+6.5\times 10)

204.25=2(10x+6.5x+65)

204.25=2(16.5x+65)

Using distributive property, we get

204.25=2(16.5x)+2(65)

204.25=33x+130

204.25-130=33x

74.25=33x

Divide both sides by 33.

\dfrac{74.25}{33}=x

2.25=x

Therefore, the correct option is B.
