Something mythical or a lucrative belief, that if one commits a certain act or a turn of events occurs it’ll have absurd result.

Example:
Breaking a mirror- 7 years of bad luck
Black Cats - bring bad luck
Walking underneath stairs, so on and so forth.

Those are certainly the premise of a hero.  A hero doesn't always have to be strong, but they have to have that something that makes them different and important in the story. Being the leader is certainly that quality since he also had many warriors. Being guided by the gods through the seas in certainly a characteristic of an epic heroic adventure.
