Answer:

January 1, 2017

Dr. Cash                       $844,020

Dr. Discount on Bond $55,980

Cr. Bond Payable        $900,000

July 1, 2017

Dr. Interest Expense                $43,299

Dr. Discount on Bond              $2,799

Cr. Interest on Bond Payable  $40,500

December 31, 2017

Dr. Interest Expense                $43,299

Dr. Discount on Bond              $2,799

Cr. Interest on Bond Payable  $40,500

Explanation:

The bond is issued on discount when the bond issuance proceeds are less than the face value of the bond. The discount is expensed over the bond period until maturity. It is added to the interest expense value to expense it.

Sale Proceeds = $900,000 x 93.78% = $844,020

Discount on the bond = Face value - cash proceeds = $900,000 - $844,020 = $55,980

This Discount will be amortized over the bond's life till maturity and added to interest expense.

Amortization = $55,980 / 10 years = 5,598 per year = $2,799 per six months

Coupon Payment = Face Value x Coupon Rate = $900,000 x 9% = $81,000 per years = $40,500 per six months

Interest Expense = $40,500 + $2,799 = $43,299

Margaret [11]

Answer:

Explanation:

Market value of stock MV=$37

Dividend D1=$2.34

Growth rate g=4.5%

Dividend yield Ke=?

Formula;

MV=D1/(Ke-g)

37=2.34/(Ke-.045)

37Ke-1.665=2.34

Ke=(2.34+1.665)/37

Waldron inc. is considering selling to a group of new customers that will bring in credit sales of $24,000 with a return on sale
Andrew [12]

Answer:

30%

Explanation:

The computation of return on investment is shown below:-

Return on Sales = Credit sales ×  Return on sales

= $24,000 × 5%

= $1,200

Investment in Accounts Receivable

= $24,000 ×  1 ÷ 6

= $4,000

Return on Investment = Return on Sales ÷  Investment in Accounts Receivable  × 100

= $1,200 ÷ $4,000  × 100

= 30%

Therefore for computing the return on investment we simply divide the investment in account receivable by return on sales.

In an economy, the working-age population is 100 million. Of this total, 80.0 million workers are employed. 3.0 million worke
denis-greek [22]

Answer:

Unemployment rate = 3.6%

Explanation:

Unemployment is the number of people who are willing to work and are actively seeking work but are unable to find it. The unemployment rate is the unemployed / total number of people in the labor force x 100.

In the above scenario, the unemployed is 3 million people. The others are either already employed, unavailable, unwilling or not seeking work.

The labour force comprises of those who are employed and unemployed, that is 80million + 3million = 83 million.

Hence, unemployment rate = (3/83) x 100 = 3.6%
