Question 22
In the context of respiration and metabolism, the two types of fermentation would be homolactic fermentation and alcoholic fermentation. The byproducts of homolactic fermentation would be lactate and the regeneration of NAD+. The byproducts of alcoholic fermentation would be CO2 and ethanol and the regeneration of NAD+. Homolactic fermentation occurs in mammals such as humans during anaerobic respiration particularly in our skeletal muscles. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in yeast.

Question 23
Aerobic respiration produces more ATP. Cells perform aerobic respiration when there is sufficient supply of oxygen and anaerobic respiration when there is insufficient supply of oxygen and when large amounts of energy is needed within a short period of time.
