I'm pretty sure it is C. The reasons being that the poem is called "We Wear the Mask". That means that they are showing one thing on the outside, but are saying something different on the inside. Like they are pretending. C makes the most sense because the passage states that they smile on the outside but their souls are crying.

One

We wear the mask. The problem with all the answers is that all the choices are all true. All five of them. The formality of the language (it's correctness) is really jolting in its simplicity and educated exactness. It is not what we expect to see in protest poetry.

Many poems contain Biblical allusions especially those written by someone like John Dunne or John Milton.

The rhyme scheme is a bit unusual, but it is very skillfully done. The first stanza goes aabbc and the second aabc and the third is aabbcd. Rhyme improperly used is called doggerel. This isn't doggerel. The rhyme emphasized the duality of their existence.

Of all the choices, this one is the hardest one to choose. It is how a whole part of a society responds to another part of a society. It is not so much about an individual as it is about a whole class of people. We wear the mask.

If you pick E then how do you get rid of A and if you pick A how do you get rid of E?

So to ask the question, which one do you pick? I might be showing some bias here, but my choice would be B. The allusion is not just any allusion. It is to a suffering Jesus who died on the cross. Only Jesus would understand why they wear the mask. Only Jesus would understand the turmoil in their souls. I can't help the way I'm wording it. It is very unusual in this day and age to see that part of Jesus referred to in that way. I'd pick it especially if this was not multiple choice.

Two

It's anything but A. The whole point of wearing the mask is that is how the colored hide their turmoil.

Same answer for B. The colored are not at all happy. That's why they wear the mask.

There is absolutely no mention of E. No one is seeking compensation, least of all in this poem. The colored are trying to be treated in a humane way.

So the answer must lie between C and D.

I think it is C. There is no vengeance in the poem and there is no sound of wanting the whites or anyone else to have the same fate as the colored so I'd eliminate D.

Why is “The Village Blacksmith” a part of americas National mythology?
OLga [1]

Answer:

The blacksmith embodies many core American values and is the backbone of a typical American community.

Explanation:

The poem "The Village Blacksmith" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow describes a blacksmith who had to juggle his time between his family and his work. But he seems to have a successful way of managing all his priorities.

The poem is an image of a blacksmith who represents "everyman", a perfect role model for the people to get inspired from. He epitomizes the image of an individual who has a managing ability to keep all his priorities in order, be it to his family, his work or even the community. This image of 'the blacksmith" came to be a representation of all the core values that embody the American society. It also represents the importance of the people who were the backbone of the American community, even during hard times.

Alexi's speech is intended to convince his listeners that he should be elected vice president of his class. Based on the breakdo
Arturiano [62]

Answer:

- Increasing the time on spent on points I and II by 15% each and decreasing the time spent on point III by 30%.

Explanation:

Preparation of an effective speech requires arduous efforts and time. Therefore, it requires to devote the time to each point or idea to be presented depending on the knowledge and experience that the speaker possesses about that particular topic or on the basis of the level of significance of the points.

As per the question, Alexi's speech could be balanced by 'increasing the time she spends on point I and II by 15% each and by reducing the excessive time devoted to point III by 30%' as the 'description of experiences and how vice presidents fail to be a part of the real change' in respect to organization and student government must be elaborated more coherently to persuade the readers and therefore, requires more time. While the last point is a mere suggestion or revelation of the purpose which could be managed in lesser time relatively.
