Answer; The correct answer for the blank is- Food Chain.

Food chain can be described as a series of living organisms that are dependent on one another as a source of food/ obtaining energy for the survival.

In other words, it represents the flow of energy ( transfer of energy in the form of food) among different living organisms present within an ecosystem.

The organisms in the food chain occupy different ranks ( called trophic level) that occur in a particular order ( such as Producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, tertiary consumers, decomposers).

Thus, food chain is the right answer.

Which of these cancer drugs acts by adding hydrocarbon groups to dna? alkylating agents?
stich3 [128]
The propositions are:
a.alkylating agents
b.antimetabolites
c.topisomerase inhibitors
d.nucleoside analogs
e.<span>AZT

The right answer is A,
An alkylating agent is a compound capable of adding alkyl groups to various electronegative groups under conditions present within the cells.

Antimetabolites are an anticancer drug but act differently than the alkylating agent. (interfere with folic acid)
Topoisomerase inhibitor acts by inhibiting isomerase, used in antibiotherapy (like quinolones).
Nucleoside analogs are analogs as their name says, it does not alkylate nucleotides.
AZT (</span><span>Zidovudine) is an antiretroviral drug that inhibits reverse transcriptase.</span>

What will happen to the concentrations of ATP,NADPH, and sugar when you add paraquat
docker41 [41]

Answer:

Decrease

Explanation:

Paraquat can induce alterations in endoplasmic reticulum that might contribute to the changes in glucose-6-phosphatase activity, resulting in an increase of blood glucose level and/or all the effects can be attributed to a high level of circulating epinephrine produced by paraquat toxicosis. Paraquat induces mitochondrial dysfunction and ATP depletion in brain tissues or cultured cells (54,62). Therefore, our in vivo findings of ATP depletion would be a contributory factor for the observed proteasome dysfunction. The two reactions use carrier molecules to transport the energy from one to the other. The lower energy form, NADP+, picks up a high energy electron and a proton and is converted to NADPH. When NADPH gives up its electron, it is converted back to NADP+

How did the results of Meselson and Stahl's experiment confirm that
Vinil7 [7]

Answer: Meselson & Stahl reasoned that these experiments showed that DNA replication was semi-conservative: the DNA strands separate and each makes a copy of itself, so that each daughter molecule comprises one "old" and one "new" strand. The semi-conservative model, in which each strand of DNA serves as a template to make a new, complementary strand, seemed most likely based on DNA's structure. ... From the patterns of DNA labeling they saw, Meselson and Stahl confirmed that DNA is replicated semi-conservatively.

A farmer decides to go into the business of raising trout for tourists who enjoy fishing. She builds six trout ponds and stocks
Nastasia [14]

Yes the following statements about her trout is likely true Because the ponds are different and the populations are likely to experience different mutations, the populations will likely diverge evolutionarily, but only over many generations.

Explanation:

The effect of genetic drift can be seen in all populations but the most is seen in small population. The change in allele frequency due to the sampling error would lead to evolution of the species.

Bottleneck effect is when a population gets reduced due to some natural disaster. Her friends were not right about bottleneck effect.

So it is clear that no bottleneck effect will occur as each pond have different chance or rate of mutation and the change in alleles will be different. The  trouts will evolve independently in the different ponds and pass on the traits to their progeny.

Genetic drift does not take into account for the harm or benefit of the alleles that are passed on.
