The colony of Virginia was a remote colony with very few settlers. Its investors were not getting profits from the colony. In the year 1619 two important events occurred. The first was that African slaves arrived at the colony of Virginia to work on tobacco plantations and fields. These were the first slaves of USA. The sencond important event was that Virginia convened its first elected assembly in Jamestown. It was known as Virginia House of Burgesses. It was first legislative assembly in the colonies. It lasted till 1775.
