HATS stands for headings, art, tables, and space so as to improve the structure and flow of the writing as well as promoting the idea of thinking visually. Headings should be used in a suitable hierarchy in order to make the information more readily accessible to the reader. Considering art, as for example the use of visual aids and tables, allow to communicate more quickly than words. When spacing, it is necessary to leave 1.15 and 1.5 per lines as well as plenty of marginal space around ilustrations so as to enhance readability.
