James Grant was a British Amry officer who served as a major general during the American War for independence.One of his major accomplishment was his service as a Governor of the East Florida.

Explaination

Grant participated in the French  and Indian war as the major of the 77th Regiment of foot.In 1758, he was assigned to led a team of soldiers that were to determine the strength abilities of Fort Duquesne.He was responsible in commanding an expedition against the Cherokee during the period of anglo-cherokee war.When the British defeted the Spanish and gained fully control of Florida, he was named the Governor of East Florida.As the governor he stopped the Indians from raiding activities.
