Answer:

The crucible was written in 1953 by Arthur Miller. The inspiration for this play were the Salem witch trials that held place back in 1692 in Massachussets. The main themes in the play are hysteria, intolerance, judgment and reputation. During the story he represent a time when deceit gripped the Puritan Towns. He wrote a story using witch trials to represent the witch hunts of communists in America.
