There were many weaknesses that the Articles of Confederation held, one of the main weaknesses was the federal government did not hold the appropriate power to create and enforce laws on American citizens.

In order for the federal government to pass any important laws, they had to have approval of 9 out of 13 of the states. This was a huge problem as many of the states did not agree on everything, so no laws would really get passed that would benefit anyone.

The federal government also could not enforce laws upon citizens properly because all of the power was with the states, so a lot of the time citizens did not have to obey certain laws as they should.

When the United States Constitution was created, this was obviously resolved. This gave power to the federal government to pass and enforce laws on American citizens, but it is still regulated. The amendments in the U.S. Constitution help to keep the federal government in check and have it so they can not take away our basic rights.

Answer:First part: The federal government, under the Articles, was too weak to enforce their laws and therefore had no power. Second part: It influenced the new U.S Constitution that is still the law of the land in the U.S today by allowing the central government certain powers/rights. Congress now has the right to levy taxes. Congress also had the ability to regulate trade between states and other countries.

hichkok12 [17]

In 1896, in the case of Plessy v. Ferguson, the Supreme Court declared the "separate but equal" doctrine. It upheld the rights of governments to set up separate schools and separate public facilities for blacks and whites so that blacks and whites could be "equal." However, they were far from equal.

Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Explain how this led to the conflict becoming the Great War.
Vsevolod [243]

Answer:

When Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, it led to Russia declaring war on Austria-Hungary as well because Russia was in an alliance with Serbia.

Germany which had an alliance with Austria-Hungary via the Triple Alliance then declared war on Russia.

Russia was already in an alliance with Great Britain and France known as the Triple Entente and when Germany declared war on Russia, Great Britain and France declared war on Germany.

Thus began the Great War.

5. How does the author support the claim that it was a"hard fight" for women to win their right to vote?
sweet-ann [11.9K]

Answer:

The author supports the claim that it was a "hard fight" to win their right to vote because they weren't considered equal workers to the men workers.

Explanation:

It was considered that women's duties were to take care of the household and to raise children, so they did not have the right to vote and to hold political office.  However, women also knew who would be the best choice for society, so they needed the right to vote because they also had good judgment about society and politic situation.

Explain two issues with the Articles of Confederation.
Natasha2012 [34]

Explanation:

The Articles of Confederation comprised the United States’ first constitution, lasting from 1776 until 1789. The Articles established a weak central government and placed most powers in the hands of the states.

Under the Articles, the US economy faltered, since the central government lacked the power to enforce tax laws or regulate commerce.

Shays’s Rebellion, an uprising of Revolutionary War veterans in Massachusetts that both the state and national governments struggled to address due to a lack of centralized military power, illustrated the need to create a stronger governing system.
