The whiskey rebellion took place from 1791, when a tax over distilled spirits (mainly whiskey in that time in the U.S.) became law, intended to generate revenue for the Revolutionary War debt. It ended three years later, in 1794, when President Washington led a force of over 13,000 men against some 500 violent protestors in Pennsylvania.
