The attached photo is the distance formula and I will try to explain how to do the first problem the best I can.
First, your points will be (-5,0) and (-4,5). Those are (x,y).
You plug -4 into the first x place and -5 into the second x place in the formula. You plug 5 into the first y place and the 0 into the second y place.
After doing the math within the radical you should end up with either 1^2 + 5^2 or 1 + 25.
I would put it into a calculator and you should end up with 5.1 as your answer (rounded)
Let me know if you need anymore help!

This Stem-and-Leaf Plot represents the heights of the students on Ralph’s basketball team. One student’s height is missing from
kompoz [17]

Using the mean of the data-set, it is found that the missing height in the stem-and-leaf plot is given by:

D. 65 in.

What is the mean?

The mean of a data-set is given by the sum of all observations in the data-set divided by the number of observations.

In this problem, following the key of the stem-and-left plot, there are 8 observations, given as follows:

54, 55, 56, 61, 63, 64, 70 and the missing value x.

The mean is of 61, hence:

61 = \frac{54 + 55 + 56 + 61 + 63 + 64 + 70 + x}{8}

423 + x = 61 x 8

x = 65.

Hence option D is correct.

Mr. Tally inherited $200,000. He used a portion of the inheritance to build a house. He invested the rest of the money for one y
Ivan

Answer:

Kindly check explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the following :

Amount inherited = $200,000

Portion used to build house = h

Invested amount = 200,000 - h

1/3 of (200,000 - h) was invested at 12%

2/3 of 200,000 - h was invested at 15%

Interest from both investment = 8400

Cost of building =?

Using the simple interest formula :

Principal(P) * rate(r) * time

If the investment was for a year:

1st investment :

(200,000 - h)/3 * 0.12 * 1 = (24000 - 0.12h) / 3 = (8000 - 0.04h)

2nd :

(200,000 - h)*2/3* 0.15 * 1 = (20,000 - 0.1h)

Summing both :

8000 - 0.04h + 20,000 - 0.1h = 8400

28000 - 0.14h = 8400

-0.14h = 8400 - 28000

-0.14h = - 19600

= 140,000
