A Biozone is a stratigraphic unit that consists of intervals of the geologic data and defined in terms of the fossil texas and is defined by there lithospheric peripheries of the surrounding rocks.

And hence they are defined by the zone fossils, depending on the relative abundance or the variation. And the overlapping unit has the same characteristics as the zones. And the boundaries of the two distinct zones are called the biohorizons.
