A group of students went out for lunch

Mathematics
1 answer:
docker41 [41]3 years ago
5 0

number sof student of the group is 50

Step-by-step explanation:

let the number students be x

total bill is Rs 200

each student will pay =200/x

now 10 students do not have the money

so x - 10 students will pay the bill of Rs 200

according to the problem

\frac{200}{x-10} = \frac{200}{x} + 1

or, \frac{200}{x-10} - \frac{200}{x} = 1

or, 200 ( \frac{1}{x-10} - \frac{1}{x}) = 1

or, 200(\frac{x-x+10}{x(x-10)}) = 1

or, 200 X 10 = x(x-10)

or, x^{2} - 10x - 2000 = 0

or, x^{2} - 50x +40x - 2000 =0( using middle term factor)

or, (x - 50) (x+40) = 0

x = 50 ( x = -40 for number of students it is not possible)

Charlotte drives 64 mph for the first 3 hours of her trip and 92 mph for last 4 hours.
german

Answer:

80 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

\boxed{\sf Distance=Speed \times Time}

<u>First leg of trip</u>

  • Speed = 64 mph
  • Time = 3 hours

\implies \sf Distance =64\times 3 = 192\:miles

<u>Second leg of trip</u>

  • Speed = 92 mph
  • Time = 4 hours

\implies \sf Distance=92 \times 4 = 368\:miles

\boxed{\sf Speed=\dfrac{Distance}{Time}}

To find the average speed:

\begin{aligned}\implies \sf Average\:speed & = \sf \dfrac{Total\:distance}{Total\:time}\\\\ & = \sf \dfrac{192+368}{3+4}\\\\& = \sf \dfrac{560}{7}\\\\ & = \sf 80\:mph\end{aligned}
