I would believe that it would be either A: very desirable items or C: visually pleasing types of food. Although those are the two I might choose, I would probably lean towards C because dainties/dainty means something good to eat/ a delicacy. Pleasing and good in this context seem to me a bit more similar than desirable and good. In A, it states, "very desirable items" which I would interpret as that the items, in this case, soup, are deemed as being wanted or wished for as being an attractive, useful, or necessary course of action. Desirables is leaning more towards a person instead of a food. In C, it states, "visually pleasing types of food", which I would say fits the description of what Lewis Carroll is trying to convey since soup is a type of food and the beautiful part of it before he says soup tells me that he might look at it as if it is visually pleasing. "Visually pleasing" basically means that whatever you are seeing with your own eyes, you deem it as if it's interesting, satisfying or appealing. When Lewis Carroll saw the "beautiful soup" he saw that it was "visually pleasing".
Side Note:
Please know that this is only my interpretation of what I believe may be the answer to the question. I hope you find this helpful in any particular way.
