History

Answer:

It depends on which bus boycott... but it was successful because an entire community came together to stop one thing that was in there way which was racism. The blacks realized that they were so high in numbers that they could do such a thing as boycott or in other words stop using/riding the bus or any other buisness or company. Another reason that it is important was because eventually the bus company gave in and gave black people the rights they deserved which was a huge victory in the eyes of a young AfricanAmerican

I have just finished this topic so I will answer this

I’m going to assume you are getting to the MBB

There were multiple outcomes of the successful boycott but there are some key points that made it happen:
1. Non violent protest
By showing that the blacks were to protest non violently they come off as passive and things are handled professionally and they gain more sympathy from the public. If they were to charge in with a violent protest such as a riot, this would come off as threatening.
2. Determination
The MBB lasted for 381 days in total. The protestors were sought to see it to the end. They had the determination
3. Community Solidarity and Mass Movement
the more people, the more effective the protest will be (the more people the arguing side has, the higher chance they have of winning the protest)
4. They had a supportive captain leading them every step of the way
Martin Luther King Jr was the spokesperson and leader of the MBB (as well as some groups supporting this such as the MIA and the SCLC)

Katyanochek1 [597]

Fear, its a simple and very effective tactic that can almost always work. Everyone has something they're scared of, and it isn't hard for governments to figure that out.
