Answer:

c. there was a growing population of beggars and vagabonds.

Explanation:

By the early 1600s, there was a growing population of beggars and vagabonds in England. Poverty at this time was rampant, sometimes reaching a third of the population. Unemployment was a serious problem, and the closing down of monasteries in the 1530s had led to a great number of newly impoverished people. Vagabonds at this time were people who travelled from their village to another one looking for work, which was illegal. From the 1550s on, a vagabond was also a person who was poor but refused to go to a workhouse.

How did Phyllis Schlafly and her supporters invoke the principle of freedom in the battle over the ERA?
IrinaK [193]
When feminist groups in the 1960s and 1970s pushed for Congress to propose the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), conservatives such as Phyllis Schlafly opposed it as something that would harm women rather than help them, that would infringe on their rights and freedoms rather than grant them greater freedom.   The ERA stated that "equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex."  A key point Schlafly focused on was that this would force women to be subject to military draft and military combat service in the same way as men.  This became the key issue regarding the defeat of the Equal Rights Amendment.  House of Representatives gave its approval to the ERA in 1970; the Senate did so in 1972.   But the amendment failed to achieve ratification by the states, due to the influence of the movement led by Schlafly.

how did colonists react to British attempts to tax and regulate trade after the French and Indian war
Pepsi [2]
Hey there!
The French and Indian war provoked the British, and caused them to spend lots and lots of money. In order to make that money back and to pay off their debts, they exercised their right to tax the colonists.
They didn't respond well.
They resisted and boycotted products and refused to buy British imported items. When the British imposed the Stamp Act and taxed the colonists' tea, they decided that it was the last straw, and that lead to the famous Boston Tea Party.
This all added up and led to the first Continental Congress, and then the Declaration of Independence, where the colonists listed their complaints and declared their independence as a free country.
Hopefully this helps!
