This game isn't too bad.
We have a proportion which represents another number.

Basically the problem states that the ratio:
22/40 is applicable to the ratio of:
# Wins / # Games

I'll represent the # Wins with the letter W.
and I'll represent the # of Games with the letter G.

So we simply set them equal to each other.

22/44 = W / G

They gave us G = 162 games

22 / 44 = W / 162

Cross multiply. So, the denominator on the left side of the equation will multiply with the numerator on the right. While the denominator on the right multiplies with the numerator on the left.

44*W = 22*162

You'll probably need a calculator for 22*162, but you can use long multiplication if it isn't allowed.

44W = 3564

Divide 44 on both sides.

W = 3564 / 44

W = 81

C. 81 is our answer!

Each cup equals 8 ounces so the 4 times 8 will eqaul 32. The next part will be multiplying 1/4 by 8/1, so as to multiply a fraction by a fraction and make it simpler. By removing the common factor of 4 from 8 and 4, you are left with 1/1 times 2/1, which ultimately equals 2 ounces. The complete answer will be 34 ounces, a whole number.

One Friday night, two large groups of people called Centerville Taxi Service. The first group
NeX [460]

Answer:sedan can hold 3 people and a minivan can hold 9 people.

Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose the number of passengers each sedan can carry is A and the number of passengers each minivan can carry is B

So 3A + 2B = 21 and 3A + 3B = 27

If we subtract the equations we can solve for B

3A + 3B = 27

-3A - 2B = 21

___________

B = 6

Now we know Each minivan can hold 6 passengers and we can solve for A.

3A + 3B = 27

3A + 3(6) = 27

3A + 18 = 27

- 18. -18

__________

3A = 9

A =3

You can check this by solving the other equation.

3A + 2B = 21

3(3) + 2(6) = 21

9 + 12 = 21

Hope that helps
