I need to represent an aspect of early modern Europe using household objects. Any ideas? 40 POINTS!
lys-0071 [83]

Good afternoon Sir/Ma'am!

I have an idea. So, if you look up early modern Europe, there is a ton of architecture. Do you have somthing in your house that has a lot of architecture disign? If you do, that is perfect! If you do not, find somthing that is old, and that means a lot to you. Somthing that got passed down from genoration, to genoration. You can say, " Europe has a ton of architecture disign. So, I brought in this! It is somthing  that represents an aspect of early modern Europe, becuase of the fact that architecture disign is a big part of the people in Europe's life."

Hope this helps!

Answer:

1) Althea Gibson was full of energy and she was dedicated and she never gave up which shows she was determined.

2) Gibson faced some hardships such as almost going bankrupt, she suffered from a stroke which lead to her developing heart problems, and from there her health was just declining more and more, she faced the hardship of many white people not allowing her to play or her getting a hotel room because she was black.

3) Billie Jean King means that if it wasn't for Gibson then many black woman would have to work harder and they wouldn't believe that they could do it, but Gibson showed the world that you can do anything if you put your heart and dedication into it.

4) You can tell that Gibson always wanted to improve herself because she said that she wanted to be somebody "But Gibson did not let this get her down. She kept playing hard. She wanted to be the best". She kept practicing and working harder to improve herself.

5) Yes, I believe that Althea Gibson is a sport legend. I believe this because she faced so many hardships in her life but didn't give up, those hardships that she faced just shaped her more and made her more determined. Most people just give up but she was not going to because she wanted to be the best there was. I also think she is a sports legend because she had so much determination and perseverance and she was one of the people who broke the record and showed other black woman and men that they can do anything with hard work, practice, determination and they can be anyone no matter their color. "But she kept trying". "She kept playing hard". "She was named the female athlete of the year. She was the first african american to win that honor". "Her success made it easier for African Americans, and other woman, to succeed in the sport." and finally "Gibson showed it could be done".

What do these symbolize in the british coat of arms?
Paul [167]

Answer:

1.Red lion holding the Honors of Scotland: The crest atop the Crown of Scotland is a red lion, seated and forward facing, itself wearing the Crown of Scotland and holding the two remaining elements of the Honours of Scotland, namely the Sword of State and the Sceptre of Scotland. This was also the crest used in the Royal Arms of the Kingdom of Scotland.

2.Crowned English lion: The Lion is the emblem of England. It is now, on badges, actually a "lion passant gardant" - a walking lion, looking out at you full face, and was first used by Rollo, Duke of Normandy (father of William the Conqueror, who added the second lion to the Royal Coat of Arms for England.)

3. Fleurs-de-lis: The French monarchy possibly adopted the Fleur-de-lis for its royal coat of arms as a symbol of purity to commemorate the conversion of Clovis I, and a reminder of the Fleur-de-lis ampulla that held the oil used to anoint the king. So, the fleur-de-lis stood as a symbol of the king's divinely approved right to rule.

4.Scottish lion rampant: It seems that the rampant lion design was first used as a symbol of the Scottish kingdom by King Alexander II (1214 - 1249 AD). It appeared as a coat of arms on one of his seals in 1222, and also later, on a seal of Alexander III.

5.Irish Harp: An Irish harp appears on the Royal coat of arms of the United  Kingdom to represent Ireland's place in the UK. The shield is  quartered, with the guardant lions of England filling the first and   forth quarters, the rampant lion and double treasure  flory-counterflory of Scotland in the second, and the Irish harp in  the third. The Irish harp is the featured element on the coat of   arms of Ireland.

6.Crowned English Lion: The dexter supporter is a likewise crowned English lion; the sinister, a Scottish unicorn. According to legend a free unicorn was considered a very dangerous beast; therefore the heraldic unicorn is chained, as were both supporting unicorns in the royal coat of arms of Scotland.

7.Unicorn: The Lion and the Unicorn are symbols of the United Kingdom. They are, properly speaking, heraldic supporters appearing in the full royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom. The lion stands for England and the unicorn for Scotland.
