To narrow down the focus of your topic, follow the following three steps: Write down additional specific about your topic. Example: brewing quality tasting beer and the health of the colonies of yeast used to brew small batches of beer properly. Turn your topic into a sentence that is a statement.

Which sentence contains an underlined independent clause (parentheses are underlines) PLS HURRY
WINSTONCH [101]

The sentence that contains an independent clause is option B) “Norman now has a job at the high school”.

Independent clauses have meaning by themselves and don’t need other words. They have a subject and predicate as a simple sentence.

Option A) is not correct since the clause is incomplete; the part “at the high school” is an adverbial phrase of place that adds meaning to the independent clause.

Option C) is incorrect as the clause “though he is hoping to find work with the country” does not have meaning by itself and needs additional information.

Option D) is also incorrect since the phrase “to find work with the country” is a prepositional clause that modifies the verb “hope”.

What can you check to ensure that your essay is well organized?
GaryK [48]

Another effective way to ensure that your essay is well-organized is to use structural cues in your writing, such as “also” and “furthermore” to show that you're adding support to a point, or “however” and “conversely” to show that you're changing directions.
